Hamline to Hamline Collaboration is seeking to raise $2,000 in order to fund the print publication of an annual newspaper, zine, or journal created by our University-Elementary collaborative writing project, Snelling Connection. Please make a gift now during Piper Funding Week, March 25, 2024 to March 29, 2024, and support this exceptional and creative collaboration between Hamline University and Hamline Elementary.
For over 100 years, Hamline University and Hamline Elementary School have been working together to change education and change lives. In 1991, the Hamline to Hamline Collaboration formalized its work and became the first university-elementary partnership of its kind. In 2018, the partnership grew again to include Hamline’s School of Education and Leadership to create a lab school partnership. A lab school is a preschool, elementary, or secondary school that has a distinct relationship with a college or university and emphasizes inquiry-based, contextualized learning connected to the students and communities they serve.
Snelling Connection is a product of this collaboration, and brings together Hamline University student editors and Hamline Elementary students to explore questions of identity and community. From conversations, interviews, and research to writing, graphics, and layout, Snelling Connection builds skills, confidence, and positive relationships.
