Our faculty and staff were the unsung heroes of last fall. Join them in supporting our students.
Dr. Young is not only the veterinarian at the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Assistant Professor in Science, but he is also a hero in disguise. He worked alongside his family, fellow faculty members, and students to extract the patients and ambassadors from the rehabilitation center after Hurricane Helene struck last fall.
"A plan was quickly hatched, with much debate about safety and liability, for Lea, Jedda, and me to hike in by way of Hemlock Trail, starting on South Campus. We would check on the center and animals, then reconvene to make a plan to get them out…if they were still there." —Dr. Sam Young
Will you give what you can today in support of deserving Lees-McRae students?

For rising junior Aariana Broadus, the beauty of the mountains led her to Lees-McRae College. The Theatre Arts Administration major opened her eyes to a life that can blend her passions of the arts and business into a viable career. A highly involved student at Lees-McRae, member of the dance team, student assistant, leader, and member of the Deans List, Aariana has made Banner Elk her home away from home with opportunities to grow each day she’s on campus.
"I am 100% sure that this is the place for me. And I want to continue to be here no matter what that looks like." —Aariana Broadus
The Hurricane Helene Scholarship was created to support students like Aariana, by providing real-time financial assistance to the students and families who need it most for the days and years to come. Your support of this scholarship means keeping the hope of a degree from Lees-McRae College alive and well for our current and future students.
Can Aariana count on your support today?
