Gifts to The Hurricane Helene Scholarship contribute to...
Our faculty and staff were the unsung heroes of last fall. Join them in supporting our students.
Dr. Young is not only the veterinarian at the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and Assistant Professor in Science, but he is also a hero in disguise. He worked alongside his family, fellow faculty members, and students to extract the patients and ambassadors from the rehabilitation center after Hurricane Helene struck last fall.
"A plan was quickly hatched, with much debate about safety and liability, for Lea, Jedda, and me to hike in by way of Hemlock Trail, starting on South Campus. We would check on the center and animals, then reconvene to make a plan to get them out…if they were still there." —Dr. Sam Young
Will you give what you can today in support of deserving Lees-McRae students?
