It’s Piper Funding Week, and Dean of Students Patti Kersten has set a fundraising goal of $10,000 for the Student Emergency Fund. These funds cover essential, non-tuition expenses for students facing acute financial crises. Make your gift today and support this vital safety net for Hamline students.

A sudden medical emergency, an unexpected car repair, or a loss of a job or a gap in housing security can instantly derail a student’s academic focus and threaten their ability to remain enrolled. For many of our Pipers, a small, critical financial intervention is the difference between staying in school and dropping out. The need for this support is real and growing. In the 2025-2026 academic year alone, the Student Emergency Fund distributed funds 175 times for students, totaling exactly $108,810.86 in aid. This crucial support went directly toward:
- Medical bills and essential prescriptions
- Vehicle repairs necessary for transportation to work or class
- Groceries and immediate food security
- Rent, utilities, and temporary housing needs
- Essential transportation assistance
By alleviating these financial burdens, we remove significant barriers to success, allowing these students to refocus on their college education and thrive in their academic and social lives.
Every donation, large and small to this fund makes a tangible, meaningful difference in the lives of Hamline students.
