Go Forth, Pioneers!
In the current job market, hiring employers value internship experience over many other factors—including major and even GPA—when considering applicants who are recent college graduates. Historically, some Marietta College students have had to weigh financial impact in their decisions over whether to seek, let alone accept, internship experiences. In 2021, the Career Center was able to marshal funds for programs impacted by Covid-19 and use them to assist students who were offered summer internships.
A future-facing Career Center should ensure that financial impediments, from tuition fees to relocation costs to living expenses, never prevent students who have earned an internship offer from accepting that experience. For Day of Giving 2022, the Marietta College Career Center seeks to raise a pool of funds that can be distributed to students who need support offsetting any costs associated with accepting an internship; with this funding we can confidently tell every Pioneer student to Go Forth and compete for the internship experience now.
