Criminal Defense Clinic

The Criminal Defense Clinic at Cardozo School of Law is expanding to become the Death Penalty and Criminal Defense Clinic, thanks to a 1:1 match generously provided by Cardozo Board of Overseers Members Eric Cohen ’83, P’12 and Shai Waisman ’96.

The expansion will allow students to provide high-quality representation for individuals facing the death penalty, allowing students to represent clients in Southern jurisdictions at multiple litigation points — from state direct and collateral appeal to federal habeas proceedings. By deepening its scope, the Clinic will further its commitment to justice while equipping students with the skills and experience necessary to advocate for those facing the most severe criminal sentences.
