Shannon Gerencir, already the Yellow Jackets career leader in wins, returned to the WVSU sidelines in 2025, and picked up where she left off during her first stint. The Yellow Jackets won 8 of their final 10 games, then rolled through the MEC tournament, knocking off top-seed and host West Virginia Wesleyan in the semi-finals to advance to the MEC Championship game for the third consecutive season.

The team posted a 3.39 team GPA in the Fall, and had 5 student athletes earn a perfect 4.0 GPA.
