The Office of New Student Programs (NSP) conducts orientation for new Golden Rams with programs that acclimate them to WCU’s academics, co-curriculars, and resources for success, while also helping them connect with their peers and professors.
Our orientation leaders (OLs) are often one of the first people a new student meets at WCU. OLs greatly impact the new student experience as they lead small groups of new Rams through their orientation day and mentor them throughout their first year. NSP’s rigorous, multi-day training gives these OLs the knowledge and skills they need to support new Rams.
The Orientation Leader Professional Development Fund would allow OLs to attend professional conferences and enable NSP to bring professional guest speakers into training, giving OLs the opportunity to build professional connections, bring thoughtful and innovative ideas to orientation, and deepen their skills in the areas of leadership, communication, wellness, diversity, equity and inclusion, and more.
By helping our OLs develop their full leadership potential, the benefits are twofold. You’re not only providing skills that will benefit them in their post-graduate careers, you’re also positively impacting the next class of Golden Rams.
