The Athletic Excellence Fund is the general area of support for the West Chester University Athletic Department. The Athletic Excellence Fund generates funds needed to assist student-athletes and their sports programs here at WCU. This support helps West Chester University recruit top student-athletes to succeed in competition, the classroom, and the community. The Athletic Excellence Funds supports our over 600 student-athletes participating in 24 Division II varsity sports at West Chester University.

West Chester University Athletics has excelled in the conference and nationally. West Chester has had two-straight top-25 finishes in the Learfield Division II Standings, the barometer for the best athletic departments in NCAA Division II. In addition, West Chester has won the Dixon Trophy, the award for the best Athletic Department in the PSAC, two straight years in a row. 

West Chester University had the most student-athletes on the PSAC Academic Honor for the 2020 – 2021 academic year with 360 student-athletes. Upon completing the academic year, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher to be eligible for the PSAC Honor Roll.
