About

West Chester 1st is a campus-wide initiative that supports the success of first-generation students at West Chester University. Approximately one-third of all West Chester students are first-generation. This means they are the first in their family to attend and complete a college degree. A college campus can be complicated without the social capital to navigate a large university system. WC 1st steps in to equip first-gen students with support and resources to be successful while enrolled.

West Chester University has been named a First-gen Forward institution that acknowledges higher education institutions for their commitment to first-generation student success.

Fundraising efforts will help continue our commitment to services and programs for the 30% of WCU students who identify as first-gen.
