About

The need for increased access to food is evidenced in the nearly 800 food pantries currently in operation on US college campuses; a 900% increase over the last decade (CBS News, 2024).

The Food Equity Initiative (FEI) is a student-centered project dedicated to increasing access to food and reducing the stigma around food insecurity on the campus of UNC Asheville. We believe access to nourishing food is a human right and aspire to make food available to as many people as possible.
