Human-Powered Submarine Club

The UConn Human Powered Submarine Club is turning a year of design and planning into something real: a submarine powered entirely by its pilot. Founded just over a year ago, our club is working toward competing in the 2027 International Submarine Races.

Our team gives students of all experience levels the opportunity to take an engineering project from initial concept to a working submarine. Members develop skills in computer-aided design, simulation, manufacturing, and teamwork while solving challenges that go beyond the classroom. The submarine also serves as a mechanical engineering senior design project, connecting our club’s work with students’ academic goals.

We have recently begun CNC machining the tooling that will shape our composite hull—a major milestone after a year of preparation. As we move into fabrication, your support will help purchase fiberglass, resin, and other essential building materials, along with the safety equipment needed to build, test, and race our submarine.

Every donation helps our students turn their designs into reality and brings us closer to representing UConn on an international stage. Help us build our submarine and give the next generation of engineers an experience they can carry into their careers.
