About UConn Alternative Breaks
UConn Alternative Breaks is a service-learning program that provides students with immersive opportunities to engage in meaningful service, learn about social topics, and build relationships with Community Partners. Through education, direct service, reflection, and community engagement, our programs encourage students to reflect, learn from those around them, and gain a deeper understanding of the communities they serve.
Throughout the academic year, we offer weekend, winter, and spring break programs focused on a variety of topics and communities. These experiences allow students to learn beyond the classroom, strengthen their leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and participate in intentional service alongside their peers.
Our Goal for Ignite
This year, UConn Alternative Breaks is participating in Ignite to help make our programs more financially accessible to students. Funds raised will help offset costs associated with participation, including transportation, lodging, meals, program fees, and other necessary expenses.
For some students, the cost of participating can be a significant barrier. Our goal is to reduce that burden so that more students can take part in these meaningful experiences, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Why Your Support Matters
For many students, Alternative Breaks becomes more than a service trip. It can be an opportunity to step outside of the classroom, build meaningful relationships, learn directly from communities, and develop a deeper understanding of social issues. Students often return from these experiences with new perspectives, stronger leadership skills, and a greater commitment to continued community engagement.
Donor support directly helps students access experiences that promote service, leadership, reflection, and deeper understanding of important social issues. Every gift, regardless of size, helps us continue creating meaningful and accessible opportunities for UConn students.
With your support, we can continue strengthening Alternative Breaks and expanding opportunities for students to learn, serve, reflect, and engage with communities beyond campus.
Any additional funds will be used for the general activities of the group.
