Twenty years ago, the Division of Biological Sciences became the College of Biological Sciences (CBS) with a bold goal: to explain the world around us and change it for the better. Today, that vision thrives and CBS is home to some of the world’s most innovative biological research. But the true heartbeat of CBS is our students. They come to us with curiosity and ambition. They leave as scientists, leaders, and changemakers. And along the way, they are given something rare and powerful: the opportunity to do real research — hands-on, high-impact, and often life-changing.
Together, we’ve accomplished so much in 20 years. With your support, the next 20 will be even more extraordinary.
We’re celebrating with our CBS 20th Anniversary Challenge! Gifts of any size to the CBS Dean’s Innovation Fund will help unlock the Give Day challenge AND will be matched dollar-for-dollar, thanks to the 20th Anniversary Matching Initiative!
Your support will expand Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) in the biological sciences by providing essential supplies, equipment, and instructional resources. It will also give CBS flexibility to meet emerging needs and stay at the forefront of innovation and student support.

Gifts of $1,000 or more to any CBS fund make you eligible for a one-year Dean’s Circle membership.

- Research Facilities Support Challenge: Not only do these facilities provide critical tools and resources for cutting-edge research, this fund supports the critical training of faculty and students to use the necessary machines and technology.
- Support CBS Graduate Students: These amazing students are the next generation of scientific leaders. Their success fuels CBS's success.
- Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior Department Challenge: Our largest department within CBS! Faculty and students in NPB study the fundamental processes shared by all animals (like the frogs below). So much to discover!
The UC Davis Botanical Conservatory is an amazing campus resource, housing over 3,000 unique plant species and providing specimens for researchers and courses across UC Davis.
Thanks to donors Will Green and Martín Palomar, the Eva Huie-Green Love of Plants Challenge is helping raise funds to support this amazing living museum.
So far, this challenge has received the MOST donors of any CBS challenge and we're just 29 donors away from our ambitions 150 donor goal!
