About

Join us to support the Center for Neuroscience this Give Day 2026

The UC Davis Center for Neuroscience is where foundational discoveries reveal the remarkable complexity of the brain and catalyze new treatments and technologies.

For more than 30 years, our interdisciplinary teams have been investigating every aspect of the nervous system - from genes to cells and circuits, to cognition and behavior -through all stages of life. We work tirelessly to reveal the remarkable complexity of the brain; our collaborative labs use innovative new tools to advance fundamental discoveries that write new chapters in our understanding about brain function. This new knowledge will ultimately improve diagnostics and treatments for brain disorders across the lifespan, from neurodevelopmental conditions to neurodegeneration.

When you support the Center for Neuroscience, you help accelerate discovery, expand training opportunities for young scientists, and open new avenues for innovations that improve lives.

Every gift, no matter the amount, directly impacts our mission. Find your passion from our Give Day challenges or contribute to the CNS General Support Fund to help respond to emerging needs and invest in new opportunities.

Join our generous supporters and make a gift to the Center for Neuroscience this Give Day!

Gifts of $1,000 or more make you eligible for a one-year CNS Director’s Circle membership. Since CNS is an interdisciplinary center of the College of Biological Sciences, you’ll also receive a one-year CBS Dean’s Circle membership.

If you’re interested in supporting the broader mission of the College of Biological Sciences (CBS), visit the CBS Give Day page!

A message from Tony Quinn

Schizophrenia affects millions worldwide and often begins in young adulthood. While our understanding of the neural and biological processes that contribute to this condition has grown significantly in recent years, fundamental questions remain.

Existing medications can often reduce hallucinations and delusions, but they don’t typically help with other symptoms such as loss of motivation, difficulty concentrating, social withdrawal and cognitive challenges.

This is just one area in which researchers at the Center for Neuroscience are working to better understand schizophrenia and to inform future advances in diagnosis and treatment.

Your Give Day gift to the Quinn Family Schizophrenia Research Fund accelerates breakthrough neuroscience to uncover the origins of schizophrenia and catalyze new, hopeful treatments for the future.

CNS brings neuroscience to YOU!

Each year, NeuroFest and K–12 outreach programs from the Center for Neuroscience bring brain science beyond the lab and into the community through accessible and FUN experiences, including hands-on demos, science-inspired crafts and engaging research posters.

Graduate students like Mathew are the backbone of these programs, running activities and bringing science to life.

By sharing neuroscience with people of all ages, CNS delivers hope, knowledge and inspiration, and it’s all made possible by community support.

Support graduate students through the Karen Sigvardt, Ph.D. Neuroscience Fellowship

Thanks to the Karen Sigvardt, Ph.D. Neuroscience Fellowship, Savannah was able to purchase the essential research and lab supplies needed to complete her dissertation. With previous funding lost due to federal cuts and lab-wide budget freezes, this fellowship provided critical support at a pivotal moment in Savannah’s academic journey and ensured she could remain on track to earn her Ph.D.

Support graduate students like Savannah by helping unlock the Karen Sigvardt, Ph.D. Neuroscience Fellowship Challenge! 🔗 https://bit.ly/GiveDay2026-CNS-Sigvardt
