Welcome to GIVING DAY! Today is the one day of the year that all alumni, students, faculty, friends and community partners of Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare (SSW) are invited to give a gift of any size to support our school.

This year, we have happily accepted the challenge of finding at least 75 donors. And any amount really and truly counts! We ask that you give only what you can and that you spread the word to your networks.

Your contributions will support the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare Fund for Excellence. This fund is an essential resource, supporting the school’s most emergent and urgent unbudgeted needs and our ability to cultivate, nurture and propel our academic and research excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

This fund helps SSW remain at the leading edge of responsive social work education and research and, through our strong community collaborations, contribute to translational impacts. The Fund for Excellence broadens our students’ intellectual, cultural, social and professional development through clubs and programming. It also provides opportunities that support academic excellence and student enrichment.

Each year, we hold Community Learning Day — an interactive day of activities and presentations that brings together students, faculty, staff and guest speakers to consider ways to advocate for addressing the pressing challenges of our 21st-century world. This fund makes that possible. Further, it allows us to support pivotal experiential learning opportunities like Campaign School for Social Workers, Advocacy Day in Albany and Social Work Day at the United Nations. It also enables us to create programming that links our alumni and current students to keep Stony Brook strong.
