The Carlos Vidal Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate students in the School of Health Professions who actively participate in campus activities or student groups or demonstrate a strong commitment to the campus community.
This scholarship honors the legacy of Dr. Carlos Vidal, a two-time Stony Brook alumnus who earned his bachelor’s degree in social welfare and his Master of Social Work from Stony Brook University. He later received his Doctor of Social Work and PhD from Fordham University, specializing in child welfare research.
Dr. Vidal joined the Stony Brook University School of Social Welfare faculty in 1978 and held various leadership roles, including Associate Dean for External Affairs and Development and Associate Dean for Community Engagement and Development. He also served as Interim Dean of the School of Health Professions. Dr. Vidal’s dedication to education and community engagement is reflected in this scholarship, which aims to support students who share his passion for making a positive impact.
