For 43 years, the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Stony Brook University has recruited exceptional students and trained them to make major contributions to human health as physician-scientists — truly “building a better world.” The program provides rigorous training for physician-scientists to pursue careers in academic medicine. Students are exposed to both clinical and basic scientific activities throughout their training.
Stony Brook University has graduated 129 physician-scientists in training thus far, with alumni spread across the country at top institutions and leading-edge biotechnology companies. Our graduates have continued to make exciting and important new translational discoveries and pioneer novel therapeutics (see here for a full listing).
