We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 885 generous donors who made this a truly historic day. Thanks to your incredible support, we raised $241,984—our highest numbers in the three years since the launch of Johnnie Day of Giving in 2023—an inspiring reflection of the strength and unity of our St. John’s College community. You’ve helped us write a new chapter in the St. John’s story, one that will continue to support both our Annapolis and Santa Fe campuses, places where great books, big questions, and bold ideas will keep flourishing.

Although the Johnnie Day of Giving 2025 chapter has officially come to a close, the story continues. Hear from the current crew as they share why the Love Boat Challenge is so important. Every dollar donated to the AN Athletics Fund during Johnnie Day of Giving will be matched 1:1, up to $5,000, helping support athletics on the water, and on the intramural fields. We’ve reached 450 donors. Let’s get to 600!

Today, Brooks Pendergast Frank (A11), Virginia Harness (A11), Kathryn Lewis (A11), Julie Henson Dowdy (A11), and Rachel Fleming (A11), invite you to give generously to the AN Athletics Fund. They will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $5,000. These gifts will provide much-needed equipment for our long-loved athletics program. As Athletic Director Rachel Fleming explains,

"As former SJC athletes (2007-2011), we were lucky enough to experience the immediate benefit of new equipment to the athletic program. In 2008, our first veteran year as rowers, we had the privilege of being the first to row a newly donated Wintech 4+. Donated generously by alumni at the time, this shell allowed us rowers to forget about the nuts and bolts (so to speak) of practice and focus on our goals as athletes. More importantly, our time together, as the “Love Boat”, cemented our lasting friendship.  

We want to ensure that current Johnnies can feel the support of alumni and friends, just as we did in 2008. From new shells that keep oars in the water to replacing cardio and weight machines that have overstayed their welcome, we know that contributions like ours make a lasting impact. So, please give generously to our current St. John’s College “bookworm-jocks”, so they can receive one of the greatest gifts of the St. John’s athletics program: true and lasting comradery."

Something fishy (or rather, amphibious) is happening on both campuses! Twenty stuffed axolotls, 10 in Annapolis and 10 in Santa Fe, have mysteriously disappeared! These mischievous little explorers, each named after a Program author, are hiding in plain sight, waiting to be discovered.

But this isn't just a game, it’s a celebration of philanthropy at St. John’s! Just like these hidden axolotls, the impact of philanthropy is all around us, sometimes unseen but always present. From scholarships that support students to the books on our seminar tables, gifts from alumni, parents, and friends make a difference every day. Johnnie Day of Giving is about strengthening this tradition of giving, ensuring that future Johnnies have the same transformative education you do today.
