Gifts to Marriage and Family Therapy contribute to...
Southern's Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program is a clinically focused training program offering rigorous academics, personalized on-site clinical supervision, and focus on the self-of-the-therapist development, completed in either two or three years of study. We value diversity, cultural competency, and experiential learning. In addition to coursework grounding students in systems theory and human development, students receive training seeing clients under the eye of seasoned supervisors in our program’s on-site Family Clinic. Additional learning takes place in a yearlong internship at an off-campus clinical placement.
Gifts to the Marriage and Family Therapy Program Endowment Fund help to enhance the MFT program and provide real-world learning opportunities for students.
SCSU MFT graduates are eligible for Connecticut licensure, clinical membership in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and find employment in various settings, including:
- Community mental health facilities
- Youth service agencies
- Hospital outpatient clinics
- Domestic violence programs
- Private practice
- Substance abuse programs
- Youth service programs
