Southern’s Political Science students can intern in a variety of offices and agencies. From nonprofit, government to law firms, many majors, minors, and graduate students gain insightful experiences through our internship programs.
The Political Science Internship Fund helps provide financial assistance to students who pursue internships allowing full-time scholars to obtain real-world learning opportunities working for local congressional officials including U.S. Reps. Rosa DeLauro, Jim Himes and U.S. Senators Dick Blumenthal and Chris Murphy. Past students have interned for the state Democrat and Republican parties as well as local party committees while others have worked for the public defender’s office and law offices. Nonprofit organizations like Yankee Institute and Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services are popular as well. Several students have interned for their city halls including New Haven’s, serving in offices like Economic Development, City Planning, and Taxes.
