Lamson Library recently sustained water damage that destroyed more than 700 of the library's books. The library lost many books in the Education subject range, along with several of the newest books added to the collection.
Assessment of the total value of materials lost is ongoing and already well over $15,000. The cost of replacing these materials does not fit into the library's existing (and reduced) budget.
- The average cost of a lost book is $31.73
- Conversely, the oldest book lost was published in 1959
- The majority of those books are out of print, and 30% are over 50 years old
Your support will allow Lamson Library to replace many of these lost materials, as well as support the new School of Education by updating older, outdated Education books that were damaged with new, up-to-date materials.
