Learning Communities

Thousands of NMSU students have succeeded in their journey to become engineers thanks to assistance made possible by the Eloy Torrez Family Learning Communities. NMSU electrical engineering alum Eloy Torrez ’70 made a generous gift in 2017 and turned 8,000 square feet of space into a comfortable, practical suite where students can receive tutoring from faculty and peer mentors in math, science, and core engineering courses on a drop-by basis, five days a week. Small-group study rooms are available so that students have a place to work that is conducive to teamwork and schoolwork. Learning Communities staff members also collaborate to identify academically at-risk students and work with them so they can stay on the path to success. Your gift to the Eloy Torrez Family Learning Communities will keep this growing resource alive and ensure that the community of NMSU engineering students thrives!
