Gifts to Fabián García Scholarship for History contribute to...
The Fabián García Memorial Scholarship in History provides scholarships for first-generation undergraduates pursuing a degree in history.
Created by Regents Professor of History Emeritus William Eamon, a first-generation student himself, the scholarship honors the memory of one of NMSU’s greatest and earliest graduates, Fabián García (1871–1948). Fabián originally came from Mexico and attended New Mexico A&M, graduating in 1890. After earning an M.A. at Cornell University, he returned to Las Cruces to establish an agricultural experiment station, which continues to be used today.
