What is Founders Day: 1888 Minutes of Giving?

Founders Day: 1888 Minutes of Giving is a giving day campaign dedicated to honoring NMSU's rich heritage and fostering support for our "future founders." To emphasize that NMSU was established in 1888, this campaign will run for precisely 1888 minutes to pay homage to our legacy while advancing our future endeavors.

What is the NMSU Foundation?

Established in 1959, the NMSU Foundation is a privately governed nonprofit corporation to support New Mexico State University. Our mission is to foster long-term relationships with our alumni, supporters, and community in order to secure, manage, steward, and protect a sustainable source of private resources that will enhance the ability of New Mexico State University to fulfill its land-grant mission. 

What is GiveCampus?

GiveCampus is the premier fundraising platform for nonprofit educational institutions. It was launched in 2015 with the mission to increase the quality, affordability, and accessibility of education, and since then has facilitated more than $3 billion in charitable giving to more than 1,200 colleges, universities, and K-12 schools.

Is it safe to make a gift online?

Absolutely. The Founders Day giving process adheres to the same strict standards as gifts made through AlwaysAnAggie.org. Our secure giving platform is GiveCampus, which is Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) compliant, and processed through CyberSource, a certified Level 1 PCI Service Provider and leader in payment security.

What if the fund to which I want to donate is not listed?

No worries. You can make a gift of any size to any program through the NMSU Foundation.

If the program you are looking for is not listed, you can select "GIVE NOW" on the home page, select the "Other" designation, and you will be prompted to write in your designation as you make your gift. 

Can I make my donation via phone? Will my donation be matched if I make it by phone?

You may donate via phone during the Founders Day campaign by calling (575) 201-9023 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. MDT. You will be connected with someone who can help you make your gift. However, only online donations can be matched.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes, to the extent allowable by law. The NMSU Foundation is a nonprofit IRC Sec. 501(c)(3) organization that is structurally separate from NMSU and exists solely for NMSU's benefit, serving as the preferred channel for private gifts to all areas of the university.

Will I get a receipt for tax purposes?

Yes. We receipt all gifts in accordance with IRS guidelines. If you give online, you will receive a confirmation of your gift via email as well.

Can I send a check?

Yes!  Please make sure to include "Founders Day" and the department, program, or scholarship to which you are giving in the memo line. Please mail checks to:
