Gifts to Wilderness Walks contribute to...
AWES students walking along a trail
National, state, and city parks are some of our greatest assets for not only recreation, but also education. Spending time in nature helps us decompress and can also support the work of conservationists, naturalists, and other scientists doing critical work to maintain our planet’s health.

Adventure in the Wilderness Exploring Sciences (AWES) is a no-cost-to-them program aimed at inner-city high school students that provides opportunities to learn about the natural world over a week-long summer backpacking trip. Students receive wilderness etiquette training, practice hands-on techniques in the natural sciences, and learn backpacking and camping skills!
All gifts to AWES go directly toward food, camping supplies, travel costs, and hiking gear, so that we can provide support for all students.
