Welcome to the annual #MillsGiving where donors and advocates like you come together to make a heroic difference in the lives of our students, who are working hard to advance their education.
This year you have an opportunity to support current students through gifts to Mills’ Greatest Need or to the Student Hardship Fund. Invest in Mills' future with a gift to the newly established Mills Legacy Scholarship Fund or to the Mills Institute. The Legacy Fund will benefit students of Mills College at Northeastern University who identify as women or gender nonbinary and who are studying on the Mills campus or enrolled in a program based on the Mills campus.
Your gift will help us reach our goal of 350 donors. When you make a gift of $100 or more you will receive Mills socks! More than that, when you participate as an Advocate, you can inspire gifts from others, ensuring the campaign’s success. Create a challenge that dares donors to take a specific action for unlocking your gift, or simply create a matching gift to encourage donor contributions. Spread the news of the campaign on social media or in personal messages—and when you generate 3 or more gifts you will earn a copy of the Mills Cultural Heritage Book!
Thank you for supporting Mills’ future as we build a sustainable path forward.
As passionate members of the Mills community, you can be proud—as we are thankful—of how 250 of you came together this #MillsGiving to raise $135,449 in support of current Mills students, future women and nonbinary students, and the Mills Institute.
Special thanks go to our Advocates who worked tirelessly to spread the word of the campaign—by sharing it with their friends, sponsoring incentives, or offering their thoughts on giving to Mills through quotes and videos—and to the generous donors who ensured that other donors could maximize their impact and class participation through Matching Gifts and Challenges.
And the class that sprung to the top of the Leaderboard for most gifts was... [drumroll]... the Class of 1965! Donors in that class will be invited for a special gathering on campus to celebrate. A shout-out also goes to our runner up: the ever-competitive Class of 1990.
For those who have socks, books, and, possibly, wine glasses coming to you, look for those in the mail soon—and be sure to send pics of yourselves enjoying your swag so we can post them and pay tribute to your generosity!
Thank you again, for helping build a stronger, prouder Mills.
We’re halfway to our goal this #MillsGiving! Inspired by your gifts, Trustee Kirsten Wolfe ’88 created this video in which she offers her thanks and suggests new ways donors can designate their gifts to perpetuate the Mills legacy.
Can you help us reach our goal of 350 donors? Please encourage your friends to participate by making a gift before midnight tonight. A gift of any amount will help us reach our goal!
Thank you!

1677 days ago by Nikole AdamsThrough the ages, thousands of Mills community members like you have “put their roots down” at Mills—to echo the lyrics (below) of this tune sung by Farm Manager Julia Dashe and students. Those roots run deep through campus and anchor the legacy of the College, which you have helped nourish this #MillsGiving through your gifts. Maximize your #MillsGiving passion by encouraging friends to give through your individual giving link, which can earn you a Mills Cultural Heritage Book when you generate 3 gifts from others!
Lyrics:Put your roots down, put your feet on the ground
Can you hear the earth sing when you listen?
’Cause the sound of the river as it moves across the stone
Is the same sound as the blood in your body as it moves across your bones
Are you listening? Are you listening?
We are grateful for your early gifts to support the College during #MillsGiving! Today we emailed the Mills community to officially launch our day of giving campaign. The early gifts you made will inspire others to join you in making a gift!
This year we’re excited to offer many ways for donors to support current needs on campus with gifts to Mills’ Greatest Need and the Student Hardship Fund. We’re equally excited to offer ways for donors to invest in Mills’ future with gifts to the newly created Mills Legacy Scholarship Fund and the Mills Institute. Please consider being an advocate and encouraging your friends and classmates to join you in making a gift during #MillsGiving. Create an account on our campaign page and begin sharing the unique links on social media and by email. When you generate 3 gifts with your outreach we will send you a copy of the Mills Cultural Heritage Book. Supplies are limited! Begin your advocacy today.
