MDC doesn't just educate Miami — it shapes its cultural life.
The historic Freedom Tower, a National Historic Landmark once known as the "Ellis Island of the South," now houses the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD), bringing bold contemporary exhibitions to downtown Miami. Each fall, the Miami Book Fair draws hundreds of celebrated authors and hundreds of thousands of readers for one of the country's premier literary events, while the Miami Film Festival brings the best of world cinema home. Live Arts Miami and the Koubek Center create space for performances and community dialogue, and New World School of the Arts trains the next generation of dancers, musicians, actors, and visual artists.
These programs are where Miami comes to create, gather, and be inspired — and where MDC students get a front-row seat to the culture they're helping build. Your gift on I AM MDC Day helps keep these doors open to everyone.
This past April, Live Arts Miami brought Canadian circus troupe Cirque Kikasse to Miami Dade College, with performances at the Hialeah, Kendall, and Wolfson campuses.
Students gathered outdoors for SANTÉ!, a playful mix of acrobatics, physical comedy, and high-energy circus - bringing live performance directly into the places where students spend their everyday lives. Experiences like these turn a walk across campus into an unexpected encounter with the arts. Your support helps us bring more artists and live performances directly to MDC students.

What happens when students are invited to turn their ideas into a song? Through Live Arts Miami’s Arts for Change Songwriting Workshops, students work alongside professional songwriters to write collectively - sharing ideas, shaping lyrics, and building verses and a chorus together.
No musical experience required, just something to say.
