Gifts to Anderson Hancock Planetarium contribute to...
Named in honor of Emeritus Professors Dr. Les Anderson ’55 and Dr. Whit Hancock, the Anderson Hancock Planetarium at Marietta College is just one of a handful of planetariums in the country equipped with a Goto Chronos hybrid system, which can replicate the night sky from thousands of years in the past to thousands of years in the future, and from countless vantage points in the Universe. This incredible facility provides a myriad of opportunities for exploration and study, both for students and for the wider community who enjoy monthly shows open to the public.
Our Planetarium is equipped with a hybrid projection system that combines an optical-mechanical star projector with a powerful full-dome digital video projector, but technology changes quickly, and the now 10-year-old system needs repair and upgrade. Thanks to the generosity of several alumni, we have approximately 70% of the funds needed to improve the projection system, but your gift to the Planetarium today will help ensure astronomy programs continue to inspire Pioneers to reach for the stars.
Thank you to photographers Timothy Black and Franci Bolden for the images of the Anderson Hancock Planetarium.
