Your generous donations to our baseball program directly support a competitive and enriching experience for all our players. These additional resources allow us to focus on both personal and athletic development while competing at a high level and proudly representing Macalester College.
This year, we are looking to adjust our scheduling model to include more games before our spring trip. Our softball program has successfully implemented a similar approach by utilizing Minnesota’s domed facilities, which are well-suited for college softball. Unfortunately, aside from US Bank Stadium, there are no indoor facilities in our region large enough for college baseball. Given the unpredictable weather and the limitations of US Bank Stadium’s scheduling policies, our team must adopt a new model—one that requires additional travel.
By scheduling 1-2 smaller, three-day weekend trips outside our region before the spring trip, we can provide significant benefits to our athletes. Spreading out competition dates allows for better recovery, enhances their overall athletic experience, and reduces academic strain. In northern climates, weather-related postponements often force us into playing multiple doubleheaders in a short period, which negatively impacts both performance and academics.
For Give to Macalester Days, we are fundraising to support:
- Out-of-region travel – Expanding our schedule to ensure more balanced and competitive play.
- Assistant coaching – Enhancing player development and support.
- Equipment, apparel, and technology – Keeping our team well-equipped and prepared.
- Meals after home games – Ensuring proper recovery and nutrition for our athletes.
