Student Emergency Fund
One of MSU Denver’s core values is access—all students should have access to resources they need to succeed in college and finish their education. The Student Emergency Fund is an emergency stipend for MSU Denver students who are dealing with unanticipated life events that might otherwise cause the student to stop or pause their educational goals.
More than 90 students were awarded nearly $85,000 in assistance during the past year. The majority of awarded funds supported housing stability for our students. For many, these funds can be the difference between successfully completing a college degree or leaving the university entirely. When you support the Student Emergency Fund, our most vulnerable students can stay at MSU Denver, finish their degree and go on to make a difference in their communities.
What kind of expenses are covered by this fund?
The Student Emergency Fund provides one-time assistance to students who are dealing with an unanticipated financial emergency which may pose a threat to basic needs or well-being. Eligible expenses frequently include: rental assistance/eviction prevention, utilities, and childcare. Supporting the Student Emergency Fund directly impacts our students’ quality of life by providing the critical support they need to be successful.
