The Helen Tanner Center will continue Helen Tanner’s legacy by supporting Lancers from all over the world with a wide variety of resources, events, and opportunities. These will not only enhance the study of language, but will also help students exchange their experiences as global citizens with other students and faculty members. As a multi-functional space that will serve both academic and social needs of language learners, the Center will empower students to make ever more meaningful strides as global citizens. Students will enjoy access to up-to-date media and news, a collection of contemporary cultural resources, film screening and tutoring space, enrichment events, and support for Longwood’s Teaching English as a Second Language program. The chance to work with faculty and grow alongside other students beyond the classroom walls will make the Center the key to the type of intercultural exchange to which Helen Tanner dedicated her distinguished career in language education.
