Longwood nursing students are looking forward to integrating Stop the Bleed during their Community Nursing course. Stop the Bleed is training that teaches you how to attend to a bleeding injury. This can apply to any injury caused by serious trauma like an accident, natural disaster, or assault.

The tool kit provides the resources needed to become prepared to handle these types of emergency situations. Once the kit is purchased, the students can learn the process then hold sessions with community members to help others learn it as well! This kit will cost approximately $1,000 and will allow us to serve our area and save lives!
Longwood nursing students are passionate about being involved with the community. Once we surpass our goal for the kit, we will use all remaining funds to assist students in attending the RAM clinic. The Remote Area Medical Clinic we work with is located in Emporia, Virginia. Last year we had seven faculty and 13 students participate in caring for local families with medical, dental, and preventative care.

For summer 2020, we will have 15 open slots for students to join faculty at the RAM clinic. If we were to obtain the additional funding in our goal through Love Your Longwood, we would be able to provide lodging for all students, and purchase supplies to bring. We appreciate any donation!
