Education has the power to break cycles and create new opportunities. In Fall 2024, LC State became Idaho's first and only institution with an approved Prison Education Program, providing incarcerated individuals with a second chance through higher education.
This spring, 177 LC State students at Idaho Correctional Institution-Orofino (ICIO), Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC), and Pocatello Women's Correctional Center (PWCC) are working toward brighter futures through education. For the first time, LC State will hold commencement ceremonies at all three correctional education sites, where students will receive their certificates, associate's, and bachelor's degrees.
The impact doesn't end at the facility gates. Several formerly incarcerated students continue their education at LC State, showing how the support they receive inside leads to long-term success. And the momentum continues to grow. LC State has been approved to expand correctional education to additional locations across Idaho, opening high-quality pathways that strengthen students, families, communities, and the state's workforce.
Your gift provides scholarships that help incarcerated students cover tuition — removing financial barriers, allowing them to continue their education, prepare for reentry, and reduce recidivism.
Every dollar you give helps make transformation possible.
