The Army ROTC program at Lehigh University is one of the original three programs in the country, with its inception in 1919. Over its 105-year history, the program has undergone many changes, but the Steel Battalion has consistently produced thousands of exceptional officers for our national defense. These officers have served in every major conflict since WWII. The extraordinary leadership abilities developed through the program continue to serve alumni in their military careers and in the civilian sectors, including engineering, business, the arts, public service, and more, leaving a lasting impact on their communities.
As the program continues to grow, additional funding is needed to support cadet opportunities. Any donated funds will help support ongoing military training, civic engagement events, professional development courses, and the acquisition of training aids for cadets’ future development. Please join us this Giving Day in supporting our 106 years of leadership and excellence!
Steel Battalion cadets are more than just students. They are NCAA student-athletes, fraternity and sorority presidents, student organization officers, award-winning researchers in numerous fields, Fulbright semifinalists, interns with intelligence agencies, global cultural ambassadors through study abroad programs, and much more—all while training over ten hours a week to become Army officers.
Today, the Steel Battalion is stronger than ever. In 2024, the battalion was recognized as number one of 42 programs in the Northeast and one of the top eight programs in the nation (out of over 273). Every year, over 80% of our senior cadets rank in the nation's top 15-20% as Distinguished Military Graduates. Lehigh ROTC has qualified for the annual Sandhurst International Military Skills competition at West Point five out of the last six years, where we compete as one of eight ROTC programs.
Each year, cadets attend Army Airborne, Air Assault, Sapper, Jungle, and Mountain Warfare Schools. They travel to several countries for exchange programs and participate in internships with public and private government organizations like the NSA and FBI. Today, over 75 cadets make up our program, engaging in our leadership development curriculum and rigorous on- and off-campus training. All of this is designed to produce well-rounded, morally, mentally, and physically fit leaders of character who serve their nation and communities with great honor and pride in their alma mater.
Please donate today to be a part of this program's great legacy and help us continue to grow!
