Your generous donation supports the efforts and initiatives of Lehigh University’s Office of International Affairs (OIA), which prepares students and scholars to engage the world, address global challenges, and live lives of meaning.
OIA advances this mission by fostering global understanding, supporting international students and scholars, expanding access to education abroad, and cultivating curiosity, respect, and engagement across cultures—on campus, in the Lehigh Valley, and beyond.

Gianna Cusumano discusses how working with OIA helps lets her help students make connections to new cultures and hear new perspectives.International student enrollment in the United States reached a historic high in 2024–25, and Lehigh continues to be an active and engaged part of this global exchange. During the 2024–25 academic year, Lehigh enrolled 967 international students from 87 countries and hosted 158 international scholars from 41 countries, strengthening academic excellence, research, and cultural vitality across the university.
International students also have a significant local impact. Last year, Lehigh’s international students contributed $56.4 million to the Lehigh Valley economy, supporting 594 local jobs—demonstrating how global engagement directly benefits our region.
OIA also plays a central role in expanding global learning opportunities for Lehigh students. In the most recent reporting year, Lehigh students completed 789 education abroad experiences across faculty-taught programs, internships, fellowships, semesters, and short-term immersions in destinations around the world. Nearly half of participating students demonstrated financial need, and 23% were Pell-eligible, reflecting Lehigh’s commitment to making global experiences accessible to students from all backgrounds.
Through fellowship advising and targeted support programs, OIA helps students pursue nationally competitive opportunities that further reduce financial barriers and open doors to global leadership. Since 2016, these efforts have resulted in $2.5 million in awards and a strong record of student success.
This work aligns closely with Lehigh’s strategic plan, Inspiring the Future Makers, advancing experiential learning, real-world impact, and purposeful global engagement. Your support helps ensure that Lehigh continues to prepare students to thrive in—and contribute to—an increasingly interconnected world.
