About

At the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), we are wholeheartedly dedicated to collaboratively enhancing the Lehigh campus atmosphere and ensuring it is an exceptional, supportive space for all. OMA tirelessly endeavors to meet the multifaceted needs of our diverse Lehigh community. Our initiatives include diversity and inclusion sessions for students, educators, and administrative staff.

For a significant number of BIPOC students at Lehigh, OMA represents more than an office—it's a second home. We are proud to offer a courageous environment where BIPOC students can confidently embrace and celebrate their unique identities, free from the constraints of judgment or critique. Embarking on a transformative journey this year, OMA spearheaded the creation of the Leadership Development and Belonging Conference, crafting an unprecedented platform for our underrepresented student groups to shine and grow.

Our commitment is reflected in our thriving programs, which have seen a substantial rise in participation rates, affirming our expanding reach. This year, we've raised the bar with events like our culturally rich Heritage Month celebrations, with a special spotlight on our Black History Month Program featuring the esteemed Georgette Chapman Phillips—Kevin L. and Lisa A. Clayton Dean of the College of Business—as the keynote speaker.

The Donning of the Kente (DOK) ceremony is a crowning moment that celebrates the extraordinary achievements of our graduating BIPOC students at Lehigh. It's a heartfelt tradition where they are honored for their academic journey, surrounded by loved ones in jubilation for earning their well-deserved degrees.

Your generous support is pivotal in our endeavor to uplift our graduating BIPOC students as they transition from Lehigh with a celebration befitting their hard work and brilliance. A gift on Lehigh Giving Day transcends mere contribution–it serves as a beacon of encouragement, helping us ensure that every student, staff member, faculty, and alumnus recognizes the unwavering support and dignity they hold within our community. By backing OMA’s annual programming—including cultural heritage months events, the Leadership Development and Belonging Conference, as well as our cherished Donning of the Kente ceremony—you play an essential part in nurturing a truly inclusive and welcoming environment at Lehigh.
