“Today is a Gift” is a celebration of philanthropy in honor of George Peabody, who transformed the cultural landscape of 19th-century Baltimore and extended the nation’s intellectual horizons.
Each year on February 12th – the date of Mr. Peabody’s founding letter in 1857 – we honor the generosity that established our Institute with a campus-wide celebration of the art of philanthropy.
This year, with the help of Nancy Grasmick, a Johns Hopkins University alum and a long time supporter of the Peabody Institute, we are able to highlight an important program, Implement and launch this special matching gift campaign!
Implement, an integral part of the Breakthrough Curriculum, empowers students to collaborate with organizations serving the Baltimore community. It forges new relationships through which the community benefits from Peabody students’ artistry and performances, while the students learn essential career skills in audience building, programming, and branding. The new dialogues and initiatives which Implement is fueling have the potential to unlock longer-term gains for our students, for our community partners, and for Peabody institutionally.
