Women of Whiting

Women of Whiting is a graduate student organization at JHU comprised of primarily graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, providing women in STEM fields with community building, networking, mentorship, and professional development.

Earlier in our academic careers, many of our members were unaware of options to study engineering or even what types of STEM fields existed. To prevent future young women from having a similar experience, we are planning to start an outreach program with local high schools to expose young students to what being a STEM student is all about, inform them about how to pursue their education, and help them discover professional pathways. Your support will enable us to improve the quality of those presentations and to reach and engage students with fun activities.

Here's how you can help:

• A gift of $5-$20: Programming supplies for in-house professional development (worksheets, printing, Hopkins staff workshops)
• A gift of $50: Hiking (snacks, water, gas), study sessions (coffee, snacks, stickers)
• A gift of $150: Themed/holiday events (pumpkin painting, holiday cookie decorating)
• A gift of $250: Professional development guest speakers (reimbursement, transportation, hotel accommodations, programming supplies, decor, etc.)
