Gifts to Applied Mathematics and Statistics contribute to...
Support Transformative mathematics and statistics for a brighter future!
The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) continues to create interdisciplinary solutions to problems arising in engineering, and the physical, biological, information, and social sciences.
AMS programs are designed to train future mathematical scientists in the use of probability, statistics, optimization, discrete mathematics, and numerical analysis. Student research is an important part of the Applied Math and Statistics major.
AMS wants to promote research and provide students with opportunities to showcase their work. Your support will go toward undergraduate research opportunities for students to work on innovative projects, in areas from developing algorithms for scheduling professional sports to those helping advance personalized medicine.
But your support does not stop with students. It will assist world class researchers and faculty, such as Tamás Budavári, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics. Tamás is using mathematical models to study Baltimore City’s more than 14,000 vacant and abandoned properties, in order to help city planning and housing officials analyze the history of every property and reconstruct the state of contiguous rowhomes.
Now more than ever, our students and researchers need your support. From now until May 5th, your gift will go even further—every 10 donors that give to the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics will unlock an additional $1,000!
We hope you will join in our efforts. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS! Make your gift to AMS today.
