Center for Diversity and Inclusion - Meet Sadie

Sadie ’27 is a first-generation student. When she came to Hope College from Cleveland, her hometown, she found a new home away from home at the Center for Diversity and Inclusion.

The sophomore social work major stays busy with her work at CDI, preparing for and marketing the yearly events the center provides to Hope students and the greater Holland community.

Sadie and her peers have come to understand firsthand how CDI empowers students to excel academically and flourish as socially responsible members in a diverse world. The center provides opportunities, resources and advocacy in partnership with the greater Hope College community to promote a Christ-centered culture of equity and inclusion.

She’s been impressed with her new-found community. “I love CDI because of the incredible people I meet, the meaningful connections I build, and the genuine warmth that fills our CDI house,” she explained. “It’s a place that feels like a home away from home, a space where you can come as you are, free of judgment and feel completely embraced.”

She recognizes CDI’s excellent community as a place that inspires belonging, acceptance and growth.
