From Thursday January 30 to Saturday February 1, three amazing Georgetown Lombardi representatives will compete in a battle of wills to see who has what it takes to walk away with a brand new Hyundai Venue-- and $60,000 towards pediatric cancer research!
In support of our incredible Team Georgetown Lombardi, we are looking to our community to help us match the funds from Hyundai by raising $1,000 over this same 50 hour period.
We will be sharing updates throughout the day from our pediatric cancer champions. Thank you for supporting pediatric cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi, as we seek to better treat, and eventually cure, all cancers.
Go Team!!
Meet Team Georgetown Lombardi
Olivia Rebro is a Registered Nurse that works in the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic; she started in November 2019. Olivia is passionate about what she does and loves the energy that she experiences from the whole team saying, “I love my coworkers. We have such a wonderful team in the clinic. Everyone is passionate about working with our pediatric population and every day I feel like we are able to make a difference as a team.” One of the most meaningful lessons she has learned at Georgetown Lombardi is, “what it means to walk with a patient from the beginning to an end of an illness, and all the stages in between. I’ve learned how to be a cheerleader and support system for my patients and their families as they battle chronic conditions. Olivia is excited to participate, “I saw this as an opportunity to advocate for the need for pediatric cancer research, as it is extremely underfunded, but every important.”
Emily Maisonet is a Research Technician who works in the Histopathology and Tissue Shared Resource. One of the things that Emily enjoys doing is volunteering with the Child Life Unit at MGUH. She is excited to take part in the competition and says she entered, “entirely for the kids.” Emily says, “I love helping out pediatric patients and their families who are facing difficult diagnoses and treatments” and that bringing some awareness to pediatric cancer through this contest is just another way that she can help.
Dana Hunter is a Research Outreach and Assessment Associate in Research Development Services who has been with Lombardi for almost two years. Ryan Dempsey, one of last years contestants, is her officemate and has been giving her some great pointers. She says she is, “taking part because I want to be able to raise money for pediatric cancer research and contribute more than I can by just doing my job.”
If you are visiting the Washington Auto Show this week be sure to drop by and show your support to Olivia, Emily and Dana. Team Georgetown Lombardi will be charting their progress on social media throughout their time in the competition. Follow us to keep up with all the action on Twitter (@LombardiCancer) and Facebook (@GeorgetownLombardi).
Dana, Emily, and Olivia of Team Georgetown Lombardi are still HANDS ON and have HOPE they will win the car. All three show no signs of quitting and are doing great. Stop by between 12pm and 3pm to say hi. The competition will end at 3pm and we will see who wins! GO GEORGETOWN LOMBARDI!

Our heroes raising awareness for pediatric cancer and the lack of funding for rare childhood cancers are staying positive (as long as you don't play them jazz music...)
Thanks to everyone who have given so far! Keep up the support and spread the word! We hope to meet you all at the Washington Auto Show. The contest ends Saturday, February 1 at 3pm. We can't wait to find out who wins!Yours,
Team Georgetown Lombardi
