1985 Reunion Memento Scarf

Order this from the BMC BOOKSHOP

Our 40th Reunion memento is a 30" square silk scarf, custom-designed by Liv Kaplan (BMC '24 Growth and Structure of Cities) to celebrate our Centennial Class! Each color and graphic element carries carries meaning.

Bryn Mawr’s iconic lantern—in our class color, red—is the centerpiece of the design, set within an interior square defined by an archway motif evoking the Cloisters; the arches appear in the four class colors (red, dark blue, light blue, and green) and the purple of McBride Scholars. The yellow and white background pattern of the interior square picks up the ermine element from the College seal.

Red ribbons and a second interior border, rendered in tiny hoops, frame the interior cloister and recall May Days past. The frame serves as a foundation for four architectural icons, windows lit: Goodhart, Pembroke Arch, Old Library, and Taylor Hall. Daisies represent the College flower, another element of the seal.

Athena makes a cameo appearance in the four corners of the scarf, in the four class colors. The navy blue in the palette is now an official College color, along with the traditional yellow (or “lantern's glow”) and white.
