You Can Support Future Heroes in Our Community
This May, we are celebrating everyday heroes in our local community. In South Florida, many of these heroes - educators, health care professionals, public safety professionals, veterans, and many more are Broward College alumni and graduates.
Many of us have our own story about how a pivotal member of the community who attended Broward College has touched our lives. These individuals enrolled as students with a longing to do something meaningful. Hard work and ambition drive students through the coursework, but many hesitate to apply or are unable to graduate due to financial insecurity or hardship.
By Making A Gift to the American Dream Scholarship
Please consider joining us in making an impact in uplifting the community through the education and development of its future heroes at Broward College by making a gift to the American Dream Scholarship.
The American Dream Scholarship helps students who are 75% completed with their degree with limited access to other financial aid sources to help fill the difference between what these students can contribute and what the state provides.
This scholarship helps students in the final stretch of their educational journey reach the finish line. Will you consider helping them start their careers and be heroes in the community?
Thank you! From alumni, to faculty & staff, friends, and so many others; the enthusiasm to see future heroes succeed has been inspiring! We are so thankful for everyone that gave, shared, and spread the word about Our Heroes Start Here.
There is just over 24 hours to go to make a difference for students through Our Heroes Start Here - providing students nearing the finish line of their educational journey with support through the American Dream Scholarship.
There is one week to go, and we are 25% of the way to our goal of 50 supporters of Our Heroes Start Here – helping students as future heroes through the American Dream Scholarship.
If you've made a gift - thank you! Please share why you've chosen to support the American Dream Scholarship on social. At the top of this page you'll see an easy way to share the campaign directly on Facebook or Twitter or share the link with friends and family who are #BCProud.
Thank you! 💙

In honor of National Nurses Week, thank you to Broward College alumni from the nursing program who bring care, compassion, and talent to the workplace while providing high-quality healthcare. Thank you for all you do.
Last week, the latest graduates of the nursing program made a commitment to the profession at the Nursing Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony. These students crossed the finish line to the next step in their nursing careers, achieving their American Dream.

943 days ago by Kristen CrawfordThe American Dream Scholarship was launched after a study to identify the students who would benefit the most from scholarship support. The study discovered an often-overlooked population - students who:
- Maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher,
- Have completed 75 percent of their degree program,
- And have financial need but receive little or no federal grant assistance because they work full- or part-time.
These students have more “adult” responsibilities than “traditional” students who begin college right after high school … and they have a high likelihood of falling behind or dropping out when faced with an unexpected financial emergency.
The American Dream Scholarship statistics highlight the real impact that gifts to scholarship support make on students:
• A total of 3,076 students have received the American Dream Scholarship
• 2,099 American Dream Scholarship recipients have graduated since Fall 2016 (68.4%)
• Graduates have earned a combined 2,917 certificates, associate and/or bachelor’s degrees
• The average grade point average of an American Dream Scholarship recipient is 3.22
• 56.5% of all recipients are the first in their family to attend college
