“To create, to discover, to inspire” is both the mission and the means propelling the Arts at Mercer University, including managing multiple heritage venues at the heart of downtown Macon’s revitalization. Gifts to the Arts increase Mercer's impact within Macon and beyond.

The Piedmont Grand Opera House is a vibrant community-assembly resource for all residents of Macon – Bibb County, as well as a draw for cultural tourism that can significantly impact the success of Macon’s downtown and corresponding economic vitality. It is our mission to nurture an appreciation of the Arts in all citizens of Central Georgia, especially its youngest citizens, through attracting the presentation of quality productions as well as an immersion into a treasured architectural artifact that reflects 120 years of Macon’s history. The leadership of The Grand also has stewarded Mercer’s recent acquisition of Robins Financial Capitol Theatre, keeping live arts and entertainment alive in downtown Macon for the foreseeable future.

Established in 2019, The McEachern Art Center is Mercer University’s dynamic contemporary art space located in downtown Macon. It functions both as a public art gallery and as a creative hub for students and community members alike. Our exhibitions prioritize contemporary art from emerging artists in the Southeast and include free open programming and admission.

Mercer Music at Capricorn is a multi-purpose music venue in downtown Macon whose mission is to leverage Macon’s music heritage to create Macon’s music future. The nearly 20,000-square-foot complex features the historic Capricorn Sound Studios, a music incubator, the Capricorn Museum, offices, co-working space and meeting rooms.
