UC Merced continues to be recognized from coast to coast as an institution that redefines academic excellence. This year UC Merced celebrated new rankings including, #28 among all public universities per U.S. News and World Report, #1 for Social Mobility per the Wall Street Journal and #1 among the University of California campuses for percentage of students who pursue master’s degrees. Fall 2023 enrolled the largest first-year class and welcomed the second SJV PRIME+ BS-to-MD cohort. UC Merced athletics are continuing to grow as we transition from an NAIA affiliation to NCAA Division II, generating more visibility for UC Merced and more opportunities for student- athletes.
