GO! Dominican Republic

Global Outreach (GO!) is a program offered through Fordham University’s Center for Community Engaged Learning that focus on service and immersion based projects. Each GO! project focuses on creating solidarity, incorporating spirituality, learning about issues of poverty and injustice, and connecting local and global realities.

In January, 2020, we will be going on a seven day immersion program with the Caribbean Social Immersion Program where we will be hosted by Centro Montalvo, a Jesuit affiliated ministry focused on the promotion of human rights, social justice, education and peace in the Dominican Republic's rural communities. They focus on creating programs that help participants to learn about and engage with Carribean culture. We will be visiting communities in Santiago– center of the Cibao Valley in the north of the Dominican Republic, and Dajabon–a community at the border with Haiti.

This program will focus on many different aspects of life in the Domincan Republic and issues that face the country. We will be visiting the border and learning about issues there, learning about education in the DR and working closely with certain parishes.

The goal of our campaign is to raise enough money to help cover the costs of the trip for our whole team. We’ve been working together as a team to raise this money and we’re asking for your help as well! Please help us to meet our goal, and feel free to share with family and friends!
