May it please the court, we are Yale Undergraduate Moot Court (YUMC), a student-run team of over 100 undergraduates competing in nationwide intercollegiate competitions through the American Moot Court Association. Our members simulate Supreme Court oral arguments and brief writing, akin to moot court in law school. We are currently the second-ranked collegiate moot court team in the US, with several members qualifying to the National Tournament for the past four years in a row. Last season, YUMC even placed second at the National Tournament. All of these accomplishments are thanks to you and those whose donations have made travel possible for our team. By providing a space for students to learn about the Constitution, YUMC aims to promote legal and civic discourse, while helping students refine their public speaking skills. In addition, our extensive high school programming—including our annual spring high school tournament and a week-long summer camp—allows us to share our expertise with the community and expand access to moot court as an activity. We incur significant expenses to sustain our operations, including tournament registration, accommodation, and transportation fees. The less our members have to worry about the financial burden of participating, the better we do as a team. For this reason, we are seeking donations to cover registration costs, accommodations, and rental cars. In total, we seek to raise $5,000.
Your donations will make a difference! YUMC is more than just a debate team—it’s a tight-knit community passionate about learning. And we know that we carry a burden to share our passion and knowledge about the Constitution with others. We humbly ask you to help us in this goal. Thank you!
