The Center for the Study of Free Speech and Academic Freedom (CAFFS) brings to campus scholars, university leaders, advocates, and policymakers for both private workshops and public events to discuss the state of free speech and academic freedom, best policies and practices for realizing a robust culture of free speech, and the future of free speech and academic freedom in the United States and across the world. The center advocates for policies to protect free speech and academic freedom, foster better understanding of and appreciation for the principles of free speech and free inquiry, and support scholarly and public conversations on critical issues relating to free speech and academic freedom.

Over 300 Yale Law School students took part in a Giving Day lunch in Ruttenberg Dining Hall today in celebration of alumni investing in their potential, their educations and their futures!
We’re thrilled to announce that an anonymous donor and Ed Shaw, YLS Class of 1969, have just stepped forward with an $850,000 challenge to the Yale Law School community in support of Giving Day today!
Inspired by the generosity of YLS donors during Giving Day today, they will contribute $850,000 dollars to the Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic (GRLC) when 50 additional gifts are made to the GLRC in support of the work of Former YLS Dean Harold Koh, Professor Mike Wishnie and current YLS students.
The GLRC was recently reactivated after a period of dormancy in response to the desire of Yale Law School students to aid in defending the rule of law.
