Economics Department

The Department of Economics at Xavier University works hard to teach students to be critical thinkers and to apply their training in the "Economic Way of Thinking" to make the world a better place. Whether it is making business decisions in their corporate careers, serving others in public sector employment, or continuing their studies, our majors all go on to do amazing things!

We need your help so that we can continue to serve our students!

All of our donations will be used to fund two $1200 need-based scholarships for our majors. Two of our majors who demonstrate both a commitment to the study of economics and financial need will be selected to receive the scholarship. Help us to help two of our students!!!

Many times, during academic advising, we hear of students that are struggling to pay their bill in order to register for classes. College is expensive and we would like to do what we can to alleviate some of that burden for our talented students. The scholarships are not much, but they can help students who just need a bit of extra support.

Helping these students will increase the number of majors that we have who go out into the world and do amazing things! These students then bring their experiences back to future generations of undergraduate students, inspiring them to commit to the study of economics. This is a virtuous cycle that we would like to reinforce! Help us to make sure that no student is left behind!

Any donations received above our goal of $2400 will be used exclusively for the benefit of our students. In the past, we have used the money to fund research assistantships for our students, experiential classroom activities for our students, and other opportunities for our students that promote community in the major.

If you are considering a donation to a cause that helps students DIRECTLY and that involves no overhead (i.e., 100 percent of the funds go directly to our students), we would greatly appreciate any support you might be able to give! Our students are wonderful and amazing and we THANK YOU for helping us to help them in this real and tangible way!

Receiving this scholarship will definitely alleviate some of the financial burden associated with pursuing my studies here at Xavier.
